There will be a CLE on medical malpractice entitled Medical Malpractice: Practical Considerations from the Legal and Medical Communities. To tell you just a bit about the CLE, it is going to examine the medical standard of care from a physician’s point of view, and the legal standard of care from plaintiffs’ and defense attorneys’ points of view. The CLE will take place at the University of Virginia, School of Law, Withers Brown Hall, on Friday, April 13, 2012, from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with registration beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Effective January 3, 2012, the possession of cellular phones and other electronic recording and wireless communication devices will be prohibited in the Court Room of the Charlottesville Circuit Court while court is in session. This prohibition will not apply to licensed attorneys and their staff provided the devices remain de-activated until activation is approved by the Court. Use of audio-visual equipment for selected cases will be permitted upon advance approval by the Court.
Violation of this prohibition may result in the seizure and confiscation of the device in question and a finding of contempt, with attendant punitive sanctions imposed where appropriate upon the offending party.
